What is TrackGeld?

TrackGeld is your financial companion — it helps you understand your spending habits, money patterns, and financial behaviour so you can make the right decisions at the right time. It is not another budgeting app; it is a tool for financial self-understanding.

Is TrackGeld free?

Yes. TrackGeld is free to use. Create an account with your email address. No credit card required, no premium plan to unlock core features.

Do I need to connect my bank?

No. TrackGeld works fully with manual expense entry. Bank connection is an optional feature and is not required to use any part of the app.

What devices does TrackGeld support?

TrackGeld is a web app — it runs in any browser on any device. There is also a Telegram bot for logging expenses and checking your status from your phone without opening the app.

Does TrackGeld sell my data?

No. TrackGeld does not sell, rent, or share your financial data with advertisers or third parties. Your data is used only to provide the service to you.

Is my data encrypted?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). The database uses row-level security so no query can access another user's data.

Does TrackGeld use my data to train AI?

No. AI providers used for transaction categorisation are contractually prohibited from training on your data without explicit consent.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes. You can request full account deletion. All personal and financial data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Contact customersupport@trackgeld.com.

How do I log an expense?

Via the web app (Dashboard → Transactions → Add), or by sending a message to the TrackGeld Telegram bot: "spent €12 on food" — logged in two seconds.

How do category budgets work?

You set a monthly euro limit per category (e.g. €250 for Food). As you log transactions, TrackGeld subtracts from the limit in real time. You see your remaining allowance for every category at all times.

What is Iron Mode?

Iron Mode is a spending discipline lock. When active, any expense that exceeds a category limit triggers a forced acknowledgement — you must consciously confirm the overspend. It adds friction at the moment you need it most.

Can I set alerts before I hit my budget limit?

Yes. TrackGeld alerts you when you reach approximately 80% of any category limit, so you can adjust before you overspend.

How do savings goals work?

Create a goal with a name, target amount, current savings, and deadline. TrackGeld calculates the required monthly saving and shows whether your spending trajectory will hit the goal in time.

Can I track loans and debts?

Yes. Log any loan with the original amount, current balance, and monthly repayment. TrackGeld shows your total debt position and how repayments affect your monthly cash flow.

Can I track money others owe me?

Yes. The Receivables section tracks outstanding amounts others owe you — split bills, loans to friends, security deposits, pending refunds.

How does recurring payment tracking work?

Add any subscription, rent, bill, or regular payment with its amount and billing date. TrackGeld shows your total monthly pre-committed spend so you know your true discretionary budget.

How do I connect the Telegram bot?

Go to Dashboard → Telegram and use the "Connect Telegram" button. This generates a one-time link that links your Telegram account to your TrackGeld account securely.

What can I do from the Telegram bot?

Log expenses, check your monthly status (/status), see budget progress, ask natural language questions ("how much have I spent on food this month?"), and receive overspend alerts.

Why is the Telegram bot not responding?

Commands like /status and expense logging work without AI. Natural language questions like "Hi" or "how am I doing?" require an AI connection — if these fail, check that your account is connected and the service is operational. Commands always work.
